I am slowly getting back in to the swing of normal routine, having returned back to the day job today after the Christmas break, and it has suddenly dawned on me that this year is going to be AMAZING!!!!!
You may or may not know that I entered a plus size beauty pageant last year, Model XL, and made it to one of the finalist…. I will be 41 by the time I strut my stuff on the stage on the 18th July 2015…. a short, fat, old pageant princess, now that has to be something to be proud of!!!!! You can read my previous post about it here.
The pageant is one of fellow blogger, Leah’s (a beautiful lady of many talents), brain children, and has developed off the back of her first plus size event last year, Style XL and her own experiences with the Miss England competition and being a finalist herself at Miss British Beauty Curve 2014. Unfortunately I was unable to attend last year, but knowing other people who did get to go, it was AWESOME! You cannot beat being in a room full of that much beauty and body positivity to boost the old confidence levels! This year Leah is combining both events, so I will DEFINITELY get to be at Style XL as well as being Model XL Cambridgeshire at Model XL!
Tickets for Style XL are available via the website, and if you attend the evening event, you get a double wammy now with Model XL to (and me of course…. heehee)!
As part of our role within Model XL, it was agreed that Mind would be the charity of choice, and during the months leading up to the pageant, to do as much good for this extremely worthwhile cause as possible! I have already made a start and done some minimal fundraising, and have set up a Just Giving page for my local Mind, Mind In Cambs…. but in addition, I have decided to shave my hair off as well (I’ve always been a bit out there)! I decided that my hair did not make me the person I am, and Model XL is all about the beauty inside…. I don’t need my hair to make me beautiful, and there are always wigs and hats if its a bit chilly! I have yet to set the date, but it is likely to be around April, so get donating via the Just Giving Page!
You will have seen from my previous post that I set up some Model XL Cambridgeshire specific social media, and I have listed these again below:
Some are getting more attention than others, but this will ramp up over the next 7 months I am sure…. Please stop by and give me a like/follow, I’d really appreciate it….
Did you attend Style XL last year, and will I see you there this year…. Or even still, will I see you on the Catwalk at Model XL?
